Jacqui might look somewhat familiar–over the years, I’ve featured her on my blog and in my portfolio. I first took her high school senior portraits some years ago. Now that she’s graduated from New Mexico State University this past December, I was honored to shoot the pictures for her graduation announcement.
Jacqui, her mom, my son Matthew and I spent the better part of a lazy November afternoon in downtown Las Cruces trying different ideas. The owner of La Iguana, Michael LeBlanc, was generous enough to let us use the beautiful door in front of his restaurant to pose.
My favorite shot of the day was on the tiles next to La Iguanas. The whole corridor between buildings has a bright, intricate tile work that depicts the history of the Mesilla Valley. I sat Jacqui right in the middle of the tiled sun and shot away. Luckily we timed it perfectly, as the real sun was low enough to have Jacqui in the shade.
Congrats and good luck, Jacqui!
